Mackay Purple Fridays is a simple, visible way for the Mackay community to say no to domestic and family violence.
Every Friday in May, we encourage students, workplaces, sporting clubs, and community members to wear purple and start conversations about respect, safety, and speaking up.
Purple Fridays is part of Mackay Rotary’s wider Say No to Domestic and Family Violence program.
How Mackay Purple Fridays works
-
Wear your purple t-shirt every Friday in May
-
Talk with friends, workmates, and young people about respectful relationships
-
Share photos and messages of support within your school or workplace
-
Show victims they are not alone and that help is available
Wearing purple sends a clear message: Stop the Silence, End the Violence.
From Mackay Purple Fridays to the March
Mackay Purple Fridays builds momentum across the month and leads into the Respect in Every Step – March to End Domestic Violence, held on the final Friday in May.
Many marchers wear their purple shirts to show unity and community leadership.
