Meet Your Presenter – Dr Deirdre Thompson

Dr Deirdre Thompson, Director of Therapeutic and Support Services at Bravehearts, brings over a decade of leadership and expertise in supporting children and families impacted by trauma.

Since 2014, Deirdre has led Bravehearts’ comprehensive suite of client-facing services, delivering trauma-informed care to those affected by child sexual abuse. This includes therapeutic counselling and Redress support services, ensuring individuals and families receive the support they need to heal and move forward.

Deirdre is the developer of Bravehearts’ award-winning Turning Corners Program, a pioneering initiative that supports children and young people who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours. Her expertise has also been recognised nationally through her appointment to the National Clinical Reference Group for Harmful Sexual Behaviours.

Passionate about protecting and supporting vulnerable children, Deirdre is committed to delivering evidence-based, holistic, and innovative services that both reduce the incidence of abuse and strengthen support for those impacted.
